My Aunt Sharon motivated me to start a garden.  So today Mee-Maw came over to help.  We had hot dogs and then planted.  Caden loved pouring the dirt into the pots and pouring the water. 

Big Machine Lapbook

Counting Big Machines

Coloring the big machines.  I put the colors out and had him match the correct color with the correct color machine.

I held Caden's hand to write his name and then he wanted to do it...cute!

Last time we did a lapbook we did not have much success.  Caden wasn't too interested.  He also wasn't as involved as he was with this one.  He enjoyed this one much more!  I got this idea from this awesome site. 

Paper Dolls

In our book Miss Polly Has a Dolly it talks about Miss Polly taking care of her sick Dolly.  So we are learning about what sick is and who takes care of you when you are sick etc.  So Caden made a doll and our next step is to put bandages on her.   

Didn't Caden do good with the face???  I told him we forgot to put her mouth and nose and he said he wanted to draw it.

Cereal Necklace

Caden wasn't really into this activity so I helped so he could at least wear it around his neck.  He wore it for a little while and took it off.  Then I could not find it and got worried that Kelso or dog had eaten it.  Well he did eat it but thank God he decided to leave the yarn!

Ice Cream Cones

I cut 4 triangles for the cones and 4 semi-circles for the ice cream.  I numbered each one of them and told Caden that I had empty ice cream cones and we had to fill them with ice cream by matching the numbers to the correct cone.  

This activity really helped Caden with his number order.  This is his number order:  1, 2, 5, 6, (he's getting louder as he is saying the rest of the numbers) 7, 8, 9999999.  He thinks 9 is like saying 10 (you know the loud ending).   lol

Can you believe all these kids were born in the same year!  Starting from the left the twins born June 4, Hannah born June 2, Blake was born in April 26th, he was born at 25 weeks check out his amazing story, then Kensley was born on June 16th.

Grocery Game

This grocery week was a pretty good week.  I continued to save about the same because I still buy items that we like to eat on a regular basis even if they are not on sale.  You are supposed to buy certain items that are free or that are on sale and stock up on those items.  That doesn't really work for us because I have a picky eater that wants specific items, but I still save money. 

Coupon Savings:  11.50

Bonus coupon Savings:  2.50 

Kroger plus savings:  27.01

Total coupon savings:  41.01

Grocery balance:  138.63  

I also found some other ways that I can save a little more.  The Maynard Moment gives you all the deals from your favorite grocery store and gives you the coupon locations just like The Grocery Game, but it is FREE.  $5 Dinners gives you the deals for that week and tries to make each recipe or dinner for that night under $5.  I saw $5 Dinners on The Rachel Ray Show.  This website What's For Dinner? lays out a menu plan for each week.  I also realized I can double or even triple my coupons at my Krogers.  Why didn't I ask sooner...I will defiantly be doing that my next shopping trip.  

Stamps

I got these stamps (they had a ton) at Michael's for $1.00 each.  It has been a long time since I have been to Michael's but they had a lot of $1.00 items.  Hannah's birthday is coming soon so I hope to go back and get the kids party favors.  

Rabbit Shape

Caden was really engaged in this activity.  I cut the Bunny Rabbit from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm Curriclum and glued it on a piece of construction paper.  We discussed the color we were painting with.  The instructions for the lesson was to get a clothespin and cotton ball.  Clip the cotton ball with the clothespin and paint away.  I think the clothespin with the cotton ball is the perfect way for a toddler to paint.  He felt more in control of were the paint went on the page and there was more paint that went on the page rather then with a small tip of a paint brush.  Loved loved loved the paintbrush substitution. 

Colorful Ovals

Tear streamers.  Another option is to use scissors.  We practiced with them but aren't very successful yet.  I did see on another website that there are scissors made especially for toddlers.  I will have to look for the site again.

Goal for this activity is to discuss the color green, yellow, and an oval.  

At home fun

Hannah loves puzzles!  Caden loves puzzles too but I need to get some new ones because he tells me "Too easy Mommy"!

Snakes!  We made play-doh snakes.  I asked Caden if snakes live in the forest, he said "Mmmmm Yes'!  He is a good guesser! :)

Rabbit Food

Our goal for this activity  was sorting what "Rabbits eat" and what "Rabbits do not eat".  I cut out the picture provided from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.  Then I placed two plastic containers on the table.  I put a bunny rabbit in one of the plastic containers and told Caden that we would put the food that "Rabbits eat" in that container.  Then in the other container without the bunny we would place the food that "Rabbits do not eat."

Very short attention span for this activity.  Maybe if we placed real food for the rabbit in the container he may have been more attentive.  Or even brought the book out that we are reading Thumper's Fluffy Tail to go along with the activity.  I will probably try this activity again along with the Bunny Rhymes.    

Bunny Rhymes

In this activity our goal was rhyming. I printed out the provided rhyming cards from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.  I then placed one of each pair in a horizontal row.  I placed the remaining cards into a bowl.  I discussed some examples of rhyming (hat/cat, dog/frog).  Then I told him the pictures on his table were missing their rhyming buddies.  I did the first round for him.  He seemed to remember where the picture went in the first example I gave him.  

I really don't think Caden understood what rhyming is but we did our best.  He enjoyed looking at the pictures.  

Oval Butterflies

With this activity we talked about ovals and all the colors we used to make our picture.  I cute out 4 large ovals and 1 large thin oval.  I had to help Caden with placing the ovals in the correct spot.  

I put the glue on the paper so he could glitter away.  He loves shaking that glitter container.

For this activity our goal was to sort animals and their homes.  First I printed and cut out forest animals and their homes.  Then I put the animals homes on the floor in a horizontal row.  We talked about each one the animal homes.  Then I showed him the pictures of the forest animals.  We then placed the correct forest animal under the correct forest home.  He really enjoyed this activity.  We played 3 times.

Train Table Daddy Built

My talented husband built this train table for Caden!  He did such an awesome job!:)  I bought the train track at a re-sale shop for $20 and we bought the wood for $30.  $50 for a train table!  What a good buy!!!!!  Right after I took this picture my little sweet Hannah was so excited about the train table and had such a great time pulling off all the trees she could get her little hands on.  Silly girl!  Oh, and my husband also built the entertainment center (you can't see all of it) in the background too!  

Cotton Tail

Caden loves to paint!!!  Today we painted a rabbit.  We talked about the color white and we also discussed bunnies tails and where they go.  I gave him a cotton ball and asked him where the bunnies tail goes and he put it in the correct spot without any help.

Magneatos

I pulled out the Magneatos I got for Caden last Christmas. They are magnets that the kids can easily put together to make shapes and other designs. Caden loves making lines out of them. Hannah loves pulling them apart and taking them out of the box. Caden gets pretty upset. Fun and educational.
