The Tale of Peter Rabbit: Bunnies in the Pot

Bunnies in the Pot: For this lesson I printed out the bunnies and pots from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm lesson. The directions were to match the bunny shape and color with the correct pot. Hannah did not want to participate but Caden was able to do it very successfully. Hannah just started matching.

Mushroom in the Rain: Shelter and My Umbrella

Shelter: In this lesson we talked about how all the animals used the mushroom as a shelter from the rain in the book and that animals do not like to be in the rain. So they use shelter to stay dry.

I printed out this worksheet from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm and I had Caden and Hannah put the correct animal sticker in the correct shelter box. You can also draw the animals.
My Umbrella: I cut out some umbrellas and the kids used water color to paint them.

Crayola Sand

I went to Wal-Mart last weekend to get the kids some more sand since the weather is getting a little warmer. Guess what I found???? Colored Sand!!!! Since we are talking about green this week I got green sand. It is called Crayola Sand. Our Wal-Mart had the colors green, blue, pink, purple, and I think that was it. What fun!!!

Mushroom in the Rain: Ordinal Numbers and Raindrop Collage

Placing the animals in the correct order of the story.

Ordinal Numbers: I cut out the animals of the story Mushroom in the Rain and made a sentence strip with the numbers 1-10 on it. We used a pocket chart to put the animals in the correct order of the story. We not only learned the order of the animals in the story and placed them under the correct number but we also learned about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Raindrop Collage: First, I drew a raindrop on a piece of paper. Then, I put blue food coloring in the glue. Caden spread the glue on the raindrop with a q-tip. Earlier in the day I died the rice blue (well Caden added some green too). Then Caden placed the rice on his raindrop.

Color Green

We are still talking about the color green this week. Today I decided to let the kids try and find the color green from a few objects I had around the house to glue on their green collage. It was really a great idea because it made Hannah try and figure out which one was the color green instead of just giving it to her. Caden already new which ones where green, he tried to help Hannah.

We also watched the color green song on you tube.
