Second Day of Mommy School

Physical Education- We did some physical activity.  I got these from Discovery Toys they are called Flip Flop Faces Emotions in Motion.  We practiced color matching and balance.
Math- Then we talked about top, middle, and bottom.  We talked about traffic lights and what color goes on top, middle and bottom of the traffic light.  We also discussed what each color means.  Then we made a traffic light snack.  I got a graham cracker, spread white icing on it and used red, yellow, and green     m &m's.

First Day of Mommy School July 2010

We started our first day of K4!  Caden has been asking me all summer to do Mommy School.  I did not have anything planned because I have been planning and organizing 2010-2011 Mommy School.

Caden's Curriculum 2010-2011 (3-4 years old):
Bob Jones Press Footsteps for Fours.  So far I love it!  Hannah is just joining us when she wants to participate.  She will be starting Mother's Day Out at the end of August so I can really work with Caden.  When she is not at Mother's Day Out I will do Mommy School with her.

Hannah's Curriculum 2010-2011 (2 years old):
Hands on Homeschooling
Confessions of a Homeschooler
The Itty-Bitty Bookworm
Hannah did not want to get out of her pajamas.
For Caden's Mommy School we started off with our names so we made name tags.  He wanted name tags for everyone including our dog.
And me!

Bible Lesson are coming from all different kinds of resources.  Our first lesson is Jonah and the Big Fish.  I read the story from this Beginners Bible Reader, which I love.
Jonah and the Big Fish (I Can Read! / Beginner's Bible, The)
Colored Jonah and the Big Fish from Dltk.
We are also doing this craft but have not completed it yet.

Then the kids drew a picture of themselves on a 4x6 index card.  Colored a school house, cut the doors out and then we glued the index card to the back of the school house so we could see them in the doors.

Here are our centers.  I put them in labeled boxes on a shelf that my husband made because we do no have enough room to place centers around the room and house.
I also started Caden a Chore Chart.  I started with morning chores first.  For example:  brush teeth, brush hair, eat breakfast, make bed etc....if he completes all morning chores he gets one quarter.  He said he wants a Buzz Lightyear so we decided that he needs to get 20 quarters to reach his goal.  He can also earn quarters throughout the day.  If he is caught sharing, being nice to his sister, things of that sort.  I got the chore chart from here.

Gymnastics July 2010

This is our 3rd week of gymnastics and the kids are doing great!  Well....the first time Caden would not participate at all because he had to be in a different class then Hannah.  So I was able to get them in the same class and now he participates.  The second time Hannah didn't participate she stayed in her instructors arms the entire time.  These pictures were taken the third time and both participated the entire time!!!:)))  They even waited their turn, you can see in the background Caden waiting while it is Hannah's turn!
The teacher tells them to say, "Ta Da" when they raise their arms!  So cute!!
"Ta Da"

Caden loves to jump, land and then roll onto the mat!
My little monkey!
 She loves the bars!

Fourth of July 2010

We visited some good friends for the 4th this year and had a great time!  The kids really enjoyed themselves too!!:))  They played on the trampoline and a jeep that they just couldn't stop riding.  We also watched fireworks for the first time....well I should say we waited for fireworks!  They were suppose to come on at 9:20pm and they didn't start until 10:15pm.  Hannah was asleep by then...and Caden saw them out the car window while on the way home, which probably worked out better because he was so worried about how loud they were going to be when the show started.

Clifford Counts Bubbles cont.

Clifford Counts Bubbles
Sponge Stamping- I cut circles out of sponges.  Then I poured blue and white paint on a paper plate and then showed the kids how to dip their sponge in the paint and then stamp onto their papers to make bubbles.

Butterflies- In the story their is a butterfly that 4 bubbles float by.  I instructed the kids to color their butterfly.  Hannah did not want to and Caden colored his.  He said he wanted to color a rainbow on it (Caden's butterfly is the top one and Hannah's is the bottom one.)  After they colored their butterfly then I had them dot paint 4 blue dots on the butterfly.  Of course, they could not stop themselves!
Honeybees- For the honeybee I drew 2 circles and and 2 ovals for the honeybees body.  Caden cut out his (his is the top honeybee).  Then I drew 4 ovals for the honeybees wings.  Caden cut out the stripes and Hannah tried to cut stripes but they were just too small to put on her honeybee.  The kids added eyes and I had them draw a smile.

Clifford Counts Bubbles

It has been a while since we have done Mommy School.  Today we did an activity from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.  We always have so much fun with that curriculum.  Both kids are always interested!:))
Clifford Counts Bubbles
We started out day off with our Mommy School Slide Show (click the link below to watch it).  It is a power point presentation that I use for our circle time.  We sing a Choo Choo song, pray, discuss the day, month, date, year, and weather.  Then we sing the Days of the Week song, 12 Months in a Year song.  After circle time is over I read our story of the week.  Today it is Clifford Counts Bubbles.  After story time we sing a Bubble song and then do some activities.

Hannah is learning how to use scissors.
The kids cut out red pieces of paper and glued them to a dog printout provided by The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.
Then we blew bubbles.  I poured some purple paint in the bubble container and the kids blew bubbles on a piece of paper.
