Over in the Meadow- Mommy School Routine Presentation

Here is my Mommy School Routine Presentation for Over in the Meadow. I did not get to Geography and PE Time this week. We have been spending a lot of time outside.

Cute Spring Craft

We did this cute spring craft at our library and I thought I would share. Cut the portion out of the paper plate you see in the picture. Then glue the cut piece of the plate on the bottom of the plate. You only put glue on the wavy part of the plate so it makes a pocket for the flowers to be glued into.

Enjoy!

Over in the Meadow-Counting Animals and Have You Ever Been Camping?

Have you ever been camping? I posted the questions on the easel and printed out the tents, colored them and put our names on them. I picked up a tent with one of our names on it and asked who's name it was and then asked him the questions. He then put it under yes or no. Then we added the columns up.
Counting Animals- I made 8 squares on a piece of paper and numbered them. Caden was to put the correct amount of animals stickers in each square.

Over in the Meadow- Sentece Starters

Our lesson today from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm was Sentence Starters. I do not have a picture for this one but it was pretty funny!

We started off with...(Caden's words are in blue)

If I were a turtle I would....swim in the water.
If I were a fish I would...swim real high and bump your head.
bird...have wings and say Ohhhh and bump your head.
muskrat...go to the map.
bee...land on the map.
crow...bump my head on the ground and spin and can't find my Mom.
cricket...bump my head and find my house and can't find Lightning McQueen.
lizard...hide and can't find my Mom.

Boy, was he being silly! He was circling around the room and having a ball coming up with all this stuff!

Over in the Meadow-Animal Homes

I have decided to graduate Caden to Preschool Corner!! Hannah will be posted as Tot School.
Calendar Time- I got this pointer from Mardels last weekend and Caden has been obsessed with it. I love it too because it helps he understand what number he is actually counting and one to one correspondence.
Animal Homes- We are reading Over in the Meadow and our lesson from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm was to print out the animals homes and the animals. Caden had to figure out what animal belonged to what home. I had him look through the book to figure it out.
Then I got him some Lincoln Logs and we built a log cabin together. I also brought out all his animals and his farm.

Mushroom in the Rain: Sentence Starters and Crazy Zany Mushrooms

Caden is 39 months old
Hannah is 21 1/2 months old

Letter of the Week: Our letter of the week was letter T so we used our letter T from our magnet Leapfrog game to press in our play-doe.

Crazy, Zany Mushrooms: In the book it talks about how all the animals used a mushroom as a shelter to stay out of the rain. So the kids colored the animals, and I cut them out then they glued them under their mushroom.

Sentence Starters: Our sentence starter was: When it rains you can... and Caden came up with the answers. It was so cute to watch his little mind wonder.

Washing the Car

It was too cute not to pass up posting these pictures. Daddy decided to wash the car and of course I said I bet the kids would love to help and boy did they. They washed the van and there car for about an hour. Not one word came out of their mouths!!! Except when Hannah dropped her sponge into the bucket of soup suds and the suds splashed right on her face. I had to take a picture she just looked so cute!

Mommy School Misc.

It was such a beautiful day we planted...we had a lot of plants that died in the freeze... the freeze that we never have but have had two years in a row! Crazy!

Caden sorted worm lures.

Hannah and Caden put erasers into a heart tray. Caden used thongs and Hannah tried to use them but used her fingers instead.

Hannah trying to use the thongs.

Please go to 1+1+1 to see more tot tray ideas!

The Tale of Peter Rabbit: Bunnies in the Pot

Bunnies in the Pot: For this lesson I printed out the bunnies and pots from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm lesson. The directions were to match the bunny shape and color with the correct pot. Hannah did not want to participate but Caden was able to do it very successfully. Hannah just started matching.

Mushroom in the Rain: Shelter and My Umbrella

Shelter: In this lesson we talked about how all the animals used the mushroom as a shelter from the rain in the book and that animals do not like to be in the rain. So they use shelter to stay dry.

I printed out this worksheet from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm and I had Caden and Hannah put the correct animal sticker in the correct shelter box. You can also draw the animals.
My Umbrella: I cut out some umbrellas and the kids used water color to paint them.

Crayola Sand

I went to Wal-Mart last weekend to get the kids some more sand since the weather is getting a little warmer. Guess what I found???? Colored Sand!!!! Since we are talking about green this week I got green sand. It is called Crayola Sand. Our Wal-Mart had the colors green, blue, pink, purple, and I think that was it. What fun!!!

Mushroom in the Rain: Ordinal Numbers and Raindrop Collage

Placing the animals in the correct order of the story.

Ordinal Numbers: I cut out the animals of the story Mushroom in the Rain and made a sentence strip with the numbers 1-10 on it. We used a pocket chart to put the animals in the correct order of the story. We not only learned the order of the animals in the story and placed them under the correct number but we also learned about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Raindrop Collage: First, I drew a raindrop on a piece of paper. Then, I put blue food coloring in the glue. Caden spread the glue on the raindrop with a q-tip. Earlier in the day I died the rice blue (well Caden added some green too). Then Caden placed the rice on his raindrop.

Color Green

We are still talking about the color green this week. Today I decided to let the kids try and find the color green from a few objects I had around the house to glue on their green collage. It was really a great idea because it made Hannah try and figure out which one was the color green instead of just giving it to her. Caden already new which ones where green, he tried to help Hannah.

We also watched the color green song on you tube.

Little White Duck- 5 Little Ducks Fingerplay

Caden is 37 1/2 months old
Hannah is 21 months old
I did two fingerplays with these little ducks. I really tried to discuss with the kids the numbers of ducks that they saw on the board and had them show me with their fingers. (You can see in Caden's face that he was mad because it was Hannah's turn to pull a duck off...lol). The duck print outs and lesson came from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.
