Placing the animals in the correct order of the story.

Ordinal Numbers: I cut out the animals of the story Mushroom in the Rain and made a sentence strip with the numbers 1-10 on it. We used a pocket chart to put the animals in the correct order of the story. We not only learned the order of the animals in the story and placed them under the correct number but we also learned about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.
Raindrop Collage: First, I drew a raindrop on a piece of paper. Then, I put blue food coloring in the glue. Caden spread the glue on the raindrop with a q-tip. Earlier in the day I died the rice blue (well Caden added some green too). Then Caden placed the rice on his raindrop.

We are still talking about the color green this week. Today I decided to let the kids try and find the color green from a few objects I had around the house to glue on their green collage. It was really a great idea because it made Hannah try and figure out which one was the color green instead of just giving it to her. Caden already new which ones where green, he tried to help Hannah.
We also watched the
color green song on you tube.
Caden is 37 1/2 months old
Hannah is 21 months old

I did two fingerplays with these little ducks. I really tried to discuss with the kids the numbers of ducks that they saw on the board and had them show me with their fingers. (You can see in Caden's face that he was mad because it was Hannah's turn to pull a duck off...lol). The duck print outs and lesson came from
The Itty-Bitty Bookworm.

It was such an exciting day for us yesterday! Caden learned how to ride his new bike. I can not believe we got the bike on Wednesday and Caden got the hang of it on Saturday morning, it took him 4 days to learn to ride a bike.
The funny part about it is Wednesday-Friday all he did was inspect the wheels and turn the bike on it's side and make the pedals go round and round. I guess he had to understand the mechanics of it and then was able to do it with his body. Very cute!
Oh, and then of course we had to take pictures of Hannah too!

Matching colors. I got the bear clips from the Dollar Store.

Counting Dice

I got these dice at the Dollar Store too. We played a few games:
He rolled the dice and what ever number he rolled we stacked in the same stacks.

Then I got out a sentence strip with the numbers 1-10 and
Caden rolled the dice counted the dots and then he put it on the correct number.

Then we sorted pebbles. I got everything you see there from the Dollar Store too.

I got so inspired by
1+1+1 Raising Rock Stars post that I begin posting more about our Bible Lessons. We are trying to include our Bible Lessons on a more consistent schedule and this will totally help by doing this post.
So we started with the Parable of the Sower. I got the flower from
Making Learning Fun. Our Bible lesson comes from
ABC Jesus Loves Me. I also purchased the
Read n' See DVD Bible that Clarisa suggested. We love it because we read our scripture, do an activity and then watch the clip from Read n' See DVD.

Caden finger painting his frog

Mixing yellow and blue to make green.
We also made green jello!

Oh my goodness!!!! I really thought the kids would enjoy this one and I sure was right. Buttttttt I thought they would enjoy spooning the different colors into the cupcake pan. I was wrong all they did was lick there little fingers to the bone.....and the bowl and the table and there mouths. Anything that had cake batter on it they licked!!!! lol It sure was fun and messy!
I got this idea and recipe from
Family Fun.

Caden's basket

Hannah's basket

Hannah painting her basket.
Eggs in the Basket- In this lesson from
The Itty-Bitty Bookworm we got spring sponges or egg sponges and dipped them in paint and then pressed the sponge on their basket.

Caden's snake

Hannah's snake.

Hannah coloring her snake.
In the book Little White Duck it talks about a red snake playing in the water. The lesson from
The Itty Bitty Bookworm was to color the snake red and make a red collage on the snake. The kids enjoyed putting all kids of fun little objects on the snake.

Flowers, pot, shovel (not in picture) and gloves.

Mini baskets and mini eggs. The kids have to match the correct color egg into the correct color basket. I got these items at Hobby Lobby.

5 Little Ducks Song. I cut a slit in the top of a can and we sing the song and put the duck coins in the slot. I got the song and idea from
Make Learning Fun.
Pouring marbles from one container to the next.

It was so cute....yesterday Daddy came home with new bikes for the kids! They can not ride them yet but they thought they were pretty neat. What a sweet Daddy!

I got this great idea from
House Art Journal. We are talking about Land and Water forms and we used play doe to represent the land and of course water to represent water. We talked about the gulf and and an island. I got the print outs from
Montessori Materials.

Pouring in the soil.

Planting the seed.

Watering the seed.

...and waiting.
This week we are reading Matthew 13:3-8 Seeds: Good and Bad Soil. The lesson is from
ABC Jesus Loves Me. So we decided to plant a sunflower seed.

This week we are reading The Little White Duck. Our first lesson from
The Itty-Bitty Bookworm was to color the duck's beak orange in the story and then paint glue on the duck with a q-tip, then add feathers.
After we did our art activity we did a little PE. It was called Lily Pad Hopping. I made colored Lily pads and placed them on the floor. When the music was on the kids skipped around the room, when the music stopped they would freeze on any lily pad.
